Privacy

Your files stay
yours.

A plain-language explanation of what the pzip Android app does with your data — and what it never does.

In short

  • pzip does not require an account and has no ads, analytics or tracking SDKs.
  • Your files are read, compressed, played and cleaned on your device. pzip does not upload them anywhere.
  • Optional security features (Safe folder, app lock, screenshot blocking) are controlled by you.

Your files

pzip works with the files already on your phone. Settings, recent archives, favourites, playback positions and the Trash are stored locally inside the app. You can clear temporary files and history at any time in Settings → Privacy & security. Uninstalling pzip removes its private data.

Permissions, explained

PermissionWhy pzip asks

Network

pzip only connects to the internet when you open a network stream (HTTP, HLS, RTSP or RTMP). It does not phone home, send crash reports or check for updates in the background.

Security features

The Safe folder encrypts files with AES-256-GCM using a key stored in the Android Keystore; the file list is encrypted too. The app lock PIN is never stored directly — only a salted PBKDF2-SHA256 hash. Screenshot blocking uses Android’s secure window flag.

This website

This site has no cookies, ads or analytics. The download and changelog pages ask GitHub’s public API for the latest release, so GitHub receives a standard web request from your browser. APK downloads are served by GitHub.
